How to best use your body butter.

If you have never used healing body butter before, or want to make sure you are getting the most out of it, read below for a step by step guide. 

Most people notice a difference in how their skin feels after one application. But just like going to the gym or eating healthy, the most significant transformation happens over time - with daily, consistent use. 

How often should you use it? One to two times a day is ideal. However, depending on how troubled your skin is when you start using the body butter, you may need to reapply throughout the day. Your skin will love these butters, and you will enjoy how good your skin feels over time. 

1. Your Body Butter Arrives

Take a moment to enjoy your new products and thank yourself for this beautiful act of self-care.

2. Enjoy the Aroma

Each healing body butter is infused with all-natural essential oils and plant butters. As you smell the natural aroma of these oils, see if you can guess the dominant fragrance, and notice how your body responds. Give yourself a minute to take it in. For Simply Soft, there is almost no fragrance on purpose. We lovingly made it for those who want or need fragrance-free plant medicine. 

 

3. Soak Your Skin

Shower, bathe, soak or swim. If you immerse yourself in water until your fingers and toes start to prune, then you know your skin has absorbed all the moisture it can hold. Don't towel dry, if possible! Or do so very lightly. The butters are best applied to your clean, wet skin. Your pores are open, and ready to be fed and protected. You can also apply to dry skin throughout the day.

4. Warm the Butter in Your Hands

All of our products consist of rich and creamy plant butters, such as shea, kokum, cocoa, and mango butters. Each has its own consistency, but all of them are rich with nutrients and moisture. Our products will be naturally thicker than lotion because they don't contain water. So, put a small amount of butter in your palm and warm it between your hands. The butters and oils will melt for smooth application.

5. Apply the Butter

Apply the butter all over! Arms, hands, legs, feet, backs, and bellies - every area of your body* will love the richness of our healing body butter. Your skin may absorb a little, or a lot, depending on what it needs. Take your time. Don't rush this self-care process. Give the butters time to deeply absorb. A few extra minutes of feeding your skin will leave you feeling amazing all day.

For severely cracked and dry skin, you can wrap the area with plastic wrap immediately after application to lock in extra moisture. Leave the wrap on for 15 minutes up to overnight to provide extra relief, moisture, and comfort to your skin. You can also cover and protect the area with clean cotton instead of plastic wrap, but be aware cotton will absorb some of the moisture in the process.
